123I-ioflupane SPECT in the assessment of Parkinson’s disease in a patient with retinitis pigmentosa

چکیده

Retinis pigmentosa is a form of retinal dystrophy characterized by pigment deposition resulting in loss peripheral vision, tunnel night blindness and some cases full blindness. Parkinson’s disease progressive extrapyramidal neurological disorder rigidity, bradykinesia tremor at rest due to substantia nigra’s dopaminergic cell; this can be evaluated with 123I-ioflupane single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). There are growing evidences underlying possible correlation between these two conditions; report we describe patient affected retinitis positive scan connection disease.

123I-ioflupane SPECT scan in a patient with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.

A 62-year-old woman presented with gait ataxia, bradykinesia, bilateral rigidity, choreic and dystonic movements, and psychomotor slowing. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) (Fig. 1), EEG and CSF analysis were compatible with a diagnosis of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD). The 123I-ioflupane SPECT (Fig. 2) was normal, indicating the relative sparing of nigro-striatal fibers and suggesting that he...

Diagnostic value of 123I-ioflupane and 123I-iodobenzamide SPECT scans in 248 patients with parkinsonian syndromes.

BACKGROUND SPECT is one of the most employed techniques in the diagnostic workup of idiopathic Parkinson's disease (IPD). Despite its widespread use, the exact diagnostic accuracy of this technique in parkinsonian syndromes remains controversial. METHODS In this study, we investigated the diagnostic accuracy of an initial (123)I-ioflupane (FP-CIT) and/or (123)I-iodobenzamide (IBZM) SPECT to d...

123I-ioflupane brain SPECT and 123I-MIBG cardiac planar scintigraphy combined use in uncertain parkinsonian disorders

We evaluated the clinical usefulness of the combined use of I-ioflupane brain single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and I-metaiodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) cardiac scintigraphy in discriminating uncertain parkinsonism with vascular lesions in striatal nuclei at magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Forty-three consecutive patients with uncertain parkinsonism and vascular lesions at MRI in...

Discriminating among degenerative parkinsonisms using advanced 123I-ioflupane SPECT analyses

(123)I-ioflupane single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) is a sensitive and well established imaging tool in Parkinson's disease (PD) and atypical parkinsonian syndromes (APS), yet a discrimination between PD and APS has been considered inconsistent at least based on visual inspection or simple region of interest analyses. We here reappraise this issue by applying advanced image anal...
